RED1-NT
Explosion-proof flame detection for systems where optical self-test is not required.
The RED1-NT provides the same rugged, explosion-proof flame detection platform as the standard RED1 without integrated optical self-test functionality.
This configuration is selected when project specifications do not permit automated self-test, when downstream systems may interpret self-test signals as alarm conditions, when facility policy requires manual inspection and testing by operators, or when simpler detector logic is preferred within a specific control architecture.
If your project specifies a non-self-test detector or you are evaluating system compatibility, Sierra can help confirm that the RED1-NT aligns with your control architecture and testing procedures.

What is the difference between the RED1-NT and the RED1-ST?
The RED1-NT is identical to the RED1-ST in detection technology, sensitivity settings, field of view, relay outputs, and hazardous area approvals. The only difference is that the RED1-NT does not include integrated optical self-test functionality.
Why would I choose a non-self-test detector?
Common reasons include project specifications that do not permit automated self-test, downstream control systems that may interpret self-test signals as alarm conditions, facility policies mandating manual operator testing, or regulatory requirements that mandate hands-on inspection.
Does removing the self-test affect detection performance?
No. The RED1-NT uses the same multi-spectrum UV/IR/Visible sensors and fire algorithms as the RED1-ST. Detection speed, range, sensitivity settings, and false alarm rejection are identical.
What is the operating temperature range?
Operating: −40°C to +85°C. Storage: −55°C to +110°C.
What mounting and wiring connections does the RED1-NT use?
Two ¾-inch NPT feed-through hubs. Screw terminals accept 14–22 AWG wire. Dimensions are 5.4 × 4.8 × 3.7 inches (13.7 × 12.2 × 9.4 cm) at approximately 3 lbs.
Can the fire/fault relays be configured as normally open or normally closed?
Yes. The RED1-NT Fire Relay and Fault Relay can each be connected as either N.O. or N.C. The detector can also be field-programmed for latching or non-latching operation.
