The RED1-ST is Sierra’s flagship detector and the most widely deployed model in the RED1 family. The RED1-ST combines explosion-proof construction with multi-spectrum sensing to detect a broad range of hydrocarbon and specialty fuel fires while filtering common false alarm sources like solar radiation and welding arcs.

The Engineering Behind the RED1-ST

The RED1-ST uses a proprietary detection algorithm that cross-correlates spectral intensity, frequency distribution, and rate-of-change across all three sensor bands.

This allows the detector to differentiate between the unique flicker signatures of hydrocarbon flames and common industrial interference, maintaining near-zero false alarm rates without sacrificing response speed.

During FM testing, the RED1-ST achieved a 2.75-second average response to a 1 sq. ft. Heptane fire at 80 feet on axis. Four field-selectable sensitivity settings (20, 40, 60, and 80 ft) allow installers to tune detection range to match site conditions.
