Dcr1 As1 Standard Config

(DCR1-AS1)

DCR1 with FEP Cable

Chemical-resistant flame detection with enhanced cable protection for aggressive industrial environments.

Built for Environments Where Cable Exposure Matters

The DCR1-AS1 adds a factory-installed FEP jacketed cable to the standard DCR1 platform. Detection performance, housing, and approvals are identical to the DCR1-S1.

This configuration is selected when cable routing passes through chemically aggressive zones, when acid, solvent, or cleaning agent exposure would degrade standard cable materials, or when facility specifications require chemical resistance at every connection point — not just the housing.

Key Features

  • FEP Jacketed Cable: 22 AWG, 14-conductor cable resistant to acids, solvents, and aggressive cleaning agents. Factory installed.

  • UV/IR Multi-Spectrum Sensing: UV and IR sensors. Calibrated to detect a 4-inch IPA fire at 10 feet on axis within 3 seconds.

  • Chemical-Resistant Housing: Factory-sealed FRPP with sapphire windows. IP67 rated. UL 94 V0 flammability rated.

  • Inside-the-Process Placement: Designed for installation inside semiconductor tools, gas cabinets, wet benches, and enclosed equipment.

Confirm Application and Cable Requirements

If your project specifications call for enhanced chemical resistance at the cable level, Sierra can help confirm that the DCR1-AS1 aligns with your installation requirements.

The Engineering Behind the DCR1-AS1

The DCR1-AS1 uses the same multi-spectrum UV/IR detection algorithm and fault diagnostics as every DCR1 model. The difference is at the connection point. In many corrosive environments, the detector housing survives long-term chemical exposure without issue, but standard cable materials degrade over time.

The FEP jacket extends that chemical resistance to the full cable run, reducing maintenance interruptions and extending service life in environments with persistent vapor exposure or aggressive cleaning cycles.

What Sets Sierra Apart

Sierra Safety Technology has manufactured flame detection equipment for nearly 40 years with zero product recalls and zero failures resulting in loss of life.

DCR1 detectors deployed in semiconductor fabs and chemical plants continue to deliver reliable service where chemical exposure is constant. The FEP cable option ensures the wiring holds up as long as the detector does.

Specialized Applications Across Sectors

Semiconductor

Wet benches, gas cabinets, and fabrication tools where cable routing passes through areas with hydrofluoric acid and other corrosives.

Chemical

Processing equipment where persistent vapor exposure and aggressive cleaning cycles would degrade standard cable materials.

Oil & Gas

Corrosive process equipment within refineries where cable durability is part of the facility’s risk assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions

The only difference is that the DCR1-AS1 includes a factory-installed FEP jacketed cable. Detection performance, housing, relays, and approvals are identical.

FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) is resistant to most acids, solvents, and aggressive cleaning agents. It prevents cable degradation in environments where standard jacketing would fail over time.

No. For the standard platform with both FEP cable and optical self-test, see the DCR1-AT1.

Yes. Class 1 Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D, T4. Also Class 1 Zone 2.

Operating: −40°C to +85°C. Humidity: up to 90%.
