(RED1-H)
Ultra-fast flame detection for applications where response time is critical.
The RED1-H is a specialized RED1 configuration tuned for applications where extremely fast response is the primary requirement. It achieves a 25-millisecond response to a 1-inch butane flame and for 1 sq. ft. pan fires.
This configuration is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and is typically selected when rapid flame growth is expected, escalation timelines are extremely short, or process interruption must occur within milliseconds of ignition.
The RED1-H is optimized for speed-focused applications and does not currently carry FM approval. Sierra recommends validating configuration, approval requirements, and system alignment prior to submittals.
High-energy process stages in refineries and fuel handling operations where rapid flame escalation requires immediate detection.
Catalytic and reactive process environments with volatile compounds and extremely short escalation timelines.
Specialized fabrication stages where fast-growing chemical fires require sub-second detection response.

How fast is the RED1-H?
The RED1-H detects a 1-inch butane flame in 25 milliseconds and a 1 sq. ft. pan fire in approximately 3 seconds.
Does the RED1-H have FM approval?
The RED1-H does not currently carry FM approval. Contact Sierra to discuss current approval status and whether it aligns with your project requirements.
What makes the RED1-H different from the RED1-ST?
The detection logic is tuned for maximum speed rather than general-purpose operation. The sensor array, housing, and field of view are the same across the RED1 platform.
Is the RED1-H appropriate for every application?
This is on a case-by-case basis. Sierra recommends consulting with our engineering team before specifying.
What is the operating temperature range?
Operating: −40°C to +85°C. Storage: −55°C to +110°C.
What mounting and wiring connections does the RED1-H use?
Two ¾-inch NPT feed-through hubs. Screw terminals accept 14–22 AWG wire. Dimensions are 5.4 × 4.8 × 3.7 inches (13.7 × 12.2 × 9.4 cm) at approximately 3 lbs.
